I really wanted to like this movie. What it excels on is definitely its aesthetics, however there are several other problems that hinder its potential.
For one, it starts to drag as the runtime goes on. I liked the constant espresso drinking and the clothes, but the movie follows some cliches that are a bit too over the top to be charming, along with a very safe formula.
For example, the ignorant and arrogant brother character is such a caricature that it becomes annoying after a while. Arguably, from the second scene he is featured onwards, it gets pretty stale - pretty quickly. The performance of the actor certainly does not help. However, this is not the rule, since it seems that, with few exceptions, the all-star cast is mainly dragged down by the mediocre script, not the other way around.
Lady Gaga is not bad in this, she was not great of course, but this is the best outcome to be honest. It seemed way less distracting having her featured than I originally thought.
