Honestly could have been more creative, because it could not have been more generic. It even manages to be boring towards the end. The scenes with the book and its lore are easily the most interesting/creative part of the movie. Nice Shining reference.

Note: Do not see this movie on Dolby Atmos if you don't want your eardrums blown out, it is obnoxiously loud.
