One of the most important films of the modern era of greek cinema.
The feeling of despair and claustrophobia this movie conveys through the amazing performances makes this a completely different yet sadly familiar experience to people living in modern Greece. The actors were certainly going through it too, especially judging by the behind-the-scenes content I have seen, and the hard-nosed directorial style of Giannis Oikonomidis.
Of course, since this movie is dealing with a lot of toxic (understatement) family dynamics, as well as verbal abuse (even bigger understatement) this might be insanely hard to sit through for some people. Due to my fortunate personal family life experiences, the constant shouting and cursing seems hilarious to me, but I get that for others this might wake up unpleasant memories and trauma. However, this undeniably fun - for some - delivery does not take away from the message itself.
No other movie satirizes the pre-crisis Greek society in such a masterful and succinct way.
